George, a student at Columbia University fell asleep during a mathematics lecture, when he woke up, the lecture had ended, the doctor had written two problems on the blackboard. He said to himself, “Sure, homework problems.” He transferred them to his notebook to solve them at home. They were very difficult...but he kept trying until he was able to solve only one problem. In the next lecture, he noticed that the doctor didn't ask about the assignment, so the student asked about them. The doctor said: “I was presenting to you examples of mathematical problems that science and scientists were unable to solve!” But the student DID solve one, because he had not been told it was impossible! George Dantzig's papers are still on display today
